Iconography - the study of images of a subject, particularly how those images portray the realities of the objects depicted.

In 2002, the Historical Harp Society began a project to collect digital versions of iconographical material related to historical harps and related topics.  This project involves scanning available materials at a high resolution.  The goal is to have the images available for reference.  Potentially, the scanned images might be used at meetings, in the Journal, for research, in fundraising efforts, for publicity, or in other projects and activities of the HHS.
Many of our members and friends possess cards, photographs, books, or photocopied versions of iconographical material.  We would like to borrow these materials and scan them.  They will then be returned to the owner.  No cutting, pasting, or folding is needed to complete the scanning, so materials will not be damaged in this process.

6)    Materials will be returned via the same packaging and shipping method as they arrived or via a method even more secure.  E-mail the project chairperson at the above address with any specific concerns.
7)    We will track who has provided each item, according to the first person that sent in the piece.  We will use the first copy sent, unless a later copy arrives which is in better condition.
